Wenn die AfD den Diskurs nach rechts verschiebt, kann sich die Union halt mehr als Partei der „Mitte“ fühlen – ohne dafür von ihren teilweise sehr reaktionären Haltungen abrücken zu müssen. Insofern haben gerade die Teile der Union, die mit eher rassistischen, sexistischen, wir-gegen-die Haltungen kokettieren (natürlich nur „im Rahmen“), ein durchaus ambivalentes Verhältnis zur AfD und ihrer Positionierung zu dieser.
